A Subsequent Injury Benefits Trust Fund (SIBTF ) is a monthly income from the State of California for workers who have had a workers’ compensation injury or other injuries or disabilities, whether or not they are work-related. SIBTF provides monthly financial support to Californians who have had previous health issues, such as injuries due to birth defects, accidents, military injuries, or disease, and then have sustained a work injury. Additional benefits, called the Subsequent Injury Fund (SIF), are also available even after your workers’ compensation case has been closed.

If you have a current workers’ compensation claim and you have been diagnosed with a health condition before your current workers’ comp claim, you could be eligible for lifetime benefits. Workers’ compensation cases can often leave injured workers with financial struggles. SIBTF is an effective way to help your financial situation after an impoverishing injury.

There is no statute of limitations that directly applies to SIBTF cases. There is access to all workers to SIF and UEBTF regardless of immigration status.

In order to be eligible, you must have a pre-existing impairment. The impairment must be a result of an accident, disease, or congenital condition. To learn more about eligibility requirements, see Dial and Associates’ eBook or call me, Stephen Dial, at 714-279-8055. I’m the attorney of Dial and Associates PC with more than 35 years of experience. I’m an approachable and respected lawyer who focuses on SIBTF and SIF cases in Southern California, with offices in Fullerton, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Irvine, and Newport Beach.

Applying and qualifying for SIBTF is a complicated process. You’ll need an experienced lawyer to evaluate your injuries and to take the necessary procedures to receive all the benefits you can qualify for. I can answer your questions and take your case now. Call our office anytime at 714-279-8055 and see our eBook on SIBTF to learn more.
